As a Christian, there are so many ways you’d want to start your day, but I believe the early hours of the morning for a Christian, are times to seek spiritual strength and nourishment to live the Christian life through the day, just as Moses instructed the Israelites in Exodus 16 to gather heavenly manner in the morning for the rest of the day.
I’m aware that every day is filled with events that could upset you, but if God is the first thing you give your heart to, you sure will get absolute peace and joy from the inside out, knowing that all things are under the control of its Maker.
Here’s how I start my day below, you might want to use this as a guide:
- START IN WORSHIP:
The moment I awake, I have just two songs I sing and meditate on with great melody in my heart:
You are good and Your mercies are forever, Hallelujah (6ce)
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; always new every morning, great is Your faithfulness. (4ce)
I’d love to have you meditate on those songs too.
You could also try having your favourite worship playlist on replay as you get ready, for the day’s activity in your room. Bethel and HillSong are my favourite. You’ll love them too.
Speak over your spirit.
Speak over your soul.
Speak over your body.
Speak over your life.
Speak over your day.
Speak, just speak.
You strengthen your inner man as you speak over yourself.
- PRAYER WALK:
I take a walk to pray in the spirit for about 30 minutes with earplugs on as I walk down the road.
But on days I have to go to work, I still insist on a walk but this time, it’s a 10 minutes walk, particularly when I’m not running late for work.
You could do it in your car, or anywhere that suits you. For me, I like to have spiritual exercise meet bodily exercise.
He that speaks in an unknown tongue edifies himself: [1 Corinthians 14:4a]
- BE STILL, HEAR FROM GOD:
For He that speaks in an unknown tongue speaks not unto men, but unto God: for no man understands him; howbeit in the spirit He speaks mysteries. [1 Corinthians 14:2]
So, now that you’ve spoken to God, you should wait for a reply or instructions from the Lord. Prayer is a two-way thing, it is a dialogue, you speak and the other replies, just like you talk with a friend.
Dear Christian Friend, every single day is the time to choose between being ruled by the Spirit or being submerged by the world. However, when you set your mind on Jesus each morning, He’ll give you all the peace and joy you need to fuel every single day of your life.
