What happens to your car when it runs out of gas? It stops running and you lose all “power” assistance with the steering and braking. It only starts running when you get the tank filled. So it is with human, we sometimes get so hungry that our stomach starts to growl, and then we get something to eat. But by the next day, no matter how great the meal was, we still hunger and thirst again.
Hungering and thirsting are continual process. You can never get enough. It doesn’t matter how well you ate yesterday or eat tomorrow you will be hungry again. We as humans hunger and thirst not only for food but for satisfaction in life. We search in different areas to be filled, but oftentimes to no avail.
Dear Purple Reader, today I will be sharing with you the means to total satisfaction and fulfillment. The word “fill” means to supply as directed, to raise the level of a thing, it means to be satisfied or fulfilled.
To say a man is successful he must have achieved a level of satisfactory accomplishment of a particular goal sought for (be it wealth, riches, respect, honor name it!) But may I inform you that there are so many miserable wealthy men out there. What gives life true meaning is God, knowing that He is the reason for our existence. Riches, wealth, and honor do not bring contentment, satisfaction, or a lasting benefit. All of these are unsatisfying and amazingly empty. They are all temporal. It’s all vanity!
I discovered that God Himself is the source of true fulfillment. He says, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.”
While feeding the multitude, Christ said, truly you find me, not because you saw the wonders of my hands, but because you ate of the loaves, and were filled. He went on to say, work not for temporal things, but for durable things which I will give you.
In another instance, He said to the woman of Samaria by the well, that whoever drinks of the water in the well will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst.
We are all uniquely gifted, we all have desires, ambitions, talents, and special interests, but as wonderful as your gifts are, unless we put God into it, we cannot enjoy it to the fullest. Every God-given gift can only be truly and ultimately enjoyed if God empowers us. Imagine the trauma that will follow when we spend all our time climbing a ladder, only to reach the top realizing the ladder was leaning against the wrong wall? But the good news is, Christ knows the end and the beginning of these ladders and can make our path straight. God has a special purpose for each person He has created, He inspires and motivates a person to pursue life’s purpose.
Dear Purple Reader, satisfaction is available, but only Christ can give it. You will recall that with all the wealth, the Prodigal son had to return to his Father when he perished with hunger. If the vision is God’s to begin with, He will carry out His purposes and plans.
Man know little of what the future holds. In Christ lays the capability and strength to fulfill worthwhile goals, aspiration and purpose, all you need do is ASK!
Leave a comment and let me know how this truth shapes your life.
Until next time. Have a fulfilling day!
